Frequently Asked Questions

Find answers to common questions about our care, insurance policies, and practice guidelines.

General Care & Visits

Is a psychiatric nurse practitioner the same as a therapist?

A Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner is an advanced practice registered nurse with specialized training in mental health and psychiatry. They can diagnose mental health conditions, prescribe medications, and provide brief therapy.Therapists typically provide counseling and psychotherapy, focusing on coping skills, emotional support, relationships, trauma, anxiety, depression, and other concerns. Therapists do not prescribe medication.

What should I expect during my initial consultation?

Your first visit is a comprehensive evaluation where we discuss your mental health history, current concerns, and goals.Your provider will review your symptoms, medical and psychiatric history, medications, lifestyle, and any factors contributing to your concerns. The goal is a comfortable, collaborative experience to develop a personalized treatment plan tailored to your needs.

Do you offer in-person or telehealth visits?

We provide both in-person appointments at our Tulsa clinic and secure telehealth options for residents of Oklahoma & Kansas.Patients utilizing telehealth must have access to a reliable internet connection and a device with a working camera and microphone to ensure a secure and effective visit.

How do I schedule or cancel an appointment?

Please call our office during business hours or use our online scheduling system to book. If you call outside business hours, please leave a voicemail with your name, date of birth, reason for the appointment, and contact information. We will return your call within 24 business hours.Cancellations require continuous 24-hour notice to avoid fees.

Insurance & Payment

Do you accept insurance?

We are a private-pay practice and do not participate with insurance plans.Upon request, we can provide a detailed receipt (superbill) that you may submit to your insurance company for potential out-of-network reimbursement. We recommend contacting your insurance provider directly to understand your out-of-network mental health benefits.

What are my payment options?

We accept major credit and debit cards. A $75 deposit is required at the time of scheduling. The remaining balance is due at the time of service.
